Hi everyone, someone sent me this account of how easily evangelism can happen if we are prepared, alert, and ready. It only takes a few seconds.
Hi Julian
I run a business which involves using trucks and carriers.
My carrier,  Joe, is a quite hard core NZ Maori guy- he has a rough exterior and boasts a long bearded plait from his chin.
He is kind to me & always goes out of his way to help.
He wasn’t like that at the start.
When I first me him to he always seemed angry but has softened …

Each Sunday, St Francis Anglican Church in Hamilton measures how active it’s members were the previous week in evangelism.
The Evangelism Team Leader there is Nelson Turvey (left).
Since I finished preaching a six week series in this Church on Sunday mornings (some two months ago now), Nelson and his team have been working/praying at keeping the momentum.
Last week, 27% of those present at the Sunday morning services were found to have been active in evangelism the previous week!
If you want to know how they are getting this result, please click here
As …

My mechanic is an elder in the Jehovah Witness church.
He runs a very successful business on the North Shore of Auckland.
In my opinion, he is a loving, caring, honest, high integrity person.
I have got to know him over the past few years and, as you can imagine,  we’ve had some vigorous discussions about theology and points of difference.
However, when I talked to him about the theology and practice of evangelism, the discussion was riveting.
So riveting, in fact, I decided do a question and answer session with him, and video the …

My good friends, Greg and Bianca McDuff from Auckland,  Salvation Army stalwarts, sent me this touching little story.
“Hi Julian
This is a video of Azaria (2.5 years old) giving her mum a bible in 11 card.
She loves to give out cards to people when we go out for coffee.
She has never been rejected!
She is just starting to get the words together as she gives out cards. At the end she is saying “check it out”.
Thought you might like it.
Love Greg

Generally speaking, our children will …

Hi everyone, I have a friend called Lorraine who dresses houses getting them ready for sale.
Today she sent me this great story.
Hi Julian,
here’s a little story for you…
Today I was doing a consultation re: house makeover for the accountant at our church.
This is my profession.  I guess you could say I am an interior designer.
A man knocked on the door in the middle of the consult.
He said – “don’t worry, I’m not one of those come to talk about religion, I’m from L J Hooker real estate”.
Pam (my friend who was …

Yesterday I had an interesting encounter.
I gave the gospel to a young lady (23) in Burger King in West Auckland.
She seemed very attentive to the gospel video ( which I was showing her on my ipad.
At the end, I asked her the usual questions (click here to see what these are)
She was quick to confess that if she died tonight, she would go straight to hell.
Then she said the best thing ever “I know that surrendering means giving up my life for Jesus and His purposes.  This is going to …

Hi everyone,
Someone sent me this video to watch and it was so thought provoking and challenging, I thought I just had to pass it on.
Applying the truths taught in this video would revolutionise the way we relate to Jesus and “do” church.
A lot is made in Christian circles of “having a personal relationship with Jesus” as though this excuses all and any behaviour.
It’s become a cool thing to say, but what does it really mean?
What if “the relationship” was one where Jesus was our Master, and we …

Yesterday I went out from my home at about 5:30 to give the gospel to someone.
I went to McDonalds which is where I usually go.
One after the other, the people I approached couldn’t watch the 11 minute gospel video.  Here is the list of reasons they gave:

(an elderly couple) “Is the video on-line? I’d like to watch it at home.” (I gave them a bible in 11 card).
(a guy in his mid 20′s) “No way. I been there, done that. Wouldn’t go there again.” (talking about church. I gave him a bible …

Who are the truly Spiritual people in the Church?
How can we tell?
The truly spiritual people in the Church are those who are balanced in their obedience to the whole council of God, as revealed in the Bible.
No thinking person would argue with this line of reasoning.
Yet, believe it or not, there is an increasing number of Christians who would contest this measure of genuine spirituality.
As a consequence of their thinking, world evangelism has taken a nose dive.  Let me explain.
There are groups of Christians who conclude, for example, that seeking …

There is a lot of talk about at the moment in Church circles about “bringing the Kingdom to earth” or “thy Kingdom come.”
The idea being conveyed is that this is the new priority of the Church.
Eternal life is down-played, even dismissed completely.
All that matters is life here and now.
What are we to make of this?
Well, when I talk to people about this, no one seems to know exactly what “bringing the Kingdom to earth” actually means in reality.
I often asked the people who espouse the idea to explain what would …

Hi everyone,
Here is a great short article by well know author and pastor Bill Hybels on evangelism. click here.
What’s interesting, it that Bill is just another top shelf pastor who affirms the idea that the evangelisation of the world is the priority of the Church.
What’s needed is a concrete, doable plan to actually put legs on this priority. To view such a plan, click here.

The Parable of the seed and the sower is in 3 of the 4 gospels.
It’s the parable about the four different types of soil: compacted soil (a path), rocky soil, weedy soil, and soft fertile soil.
It’s also the parable about how to get 30,60,100 fold fruit.
We are all familiar with this parable.
What’s interesting is that ONLY in Matthew does Jesus give a clue as to why the soft soil results in abundant fruit.
It’s the person who hears the gospel AND UNDERSTANDS IT! (Matthew 13:23)
Now, I want to give you an …

Recently I was out and about evangelising and I noticed an elderly lady sitting alone in a cafe, with no one else near her.
I approached her in the same way as I have thousands of other people.
Getting eye contact first, I said (smiling and light and breezy) “Hi, can I ask you a question?”
“Sure” she said, smiling.
“What’s the best selling book of all time?”
“Mmm…you’ve got me thinking. OK, what is it?”
“It’s the Bible” I said, smiling.
Before I got any further she said “Are you evangelising me?”
“Yes” I said.
“Stop right there” …

A friend of mine called Brian wrote the following:
“Yesterday I was out and about.  I had a meeting with someone in Starbucks.
As I was paying for my drink, I noticed a Chinese lady in her forties close by, and felt the Holy Spirit quicken me to talk to her.
She was eager to watch the video on my ipad.
As she was watching it, I noticed she completely stopped eating her muffin and drinking her drink.
At the end she was so excited.
Turns out she was a Christian.
She now she is seriously …
