Last night I went out to McDonalds at around 9pm with a friend for a hot chocolate. We’d worked hard all day, and we felt we needed to catch up and debrief, which we often do.  I hadn’t shared the gospel up until this point in the day, so I took my mini DVD player which is loaded with the latest version of the gospel (to see this, just visit our web site). When we arrive, a taxi driver was pulling in also. His taxi was empty, so I knew …

“Today I visited my elderly Mum in Whangarei which was great.
On route back to Auckland, I called in on a well know Presbyterian minister, Peter Dunn, at Waipu. Peter and his wife Helen and five children have been faithfully serving there for the past 20 years. What a fascinating guy!
He told me an interesting story about his meeting with mega church pastor Bill Hybels and their dinner time conversation. Bill pointed out that he lived in a city with 3 million within 30 minutes drive of his campus and had …

Why the big fuss about the need to define terms like ‘the gospel’ and ‘evangelism’ Biblically? Is this just nit picking? Is this just one upmanship? Is it just religious nonsense? Legalism perhaps? Is this just what Titus 3:9 exhorts us to avoid?
‘But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless.’
No. And here is the reason why.
Why did 200 top Biblical scholars and church leaders (e.g. those who attended the “This We Believe” conference in 2000) meet and go to …

Each week I have the privilege of meeting pastors and leaders from churches around NZ. It’s always a good time because pastors and leaders usually have a great SOH, have great stories to tell, and something insightful and valuable to share.
Pastor Anthony Glading from Otahuhu Baptist is no exception. In fact, he’s a very gifted guy. Not only does he have a Master’s degree in Science, but he came into the role of pastor full of life experience pregnant with visions and dreams for his church which have been inspired …

Today I did something I have never done before. I walked into Dick Smith, and purchased a mini DVD player, loaded the gospel presentation into it (which you can view here) and set off to find some non-Christians to just play the gospel to! Well, I didn’t even make it out of the shop. One of the guys behind the counter asked me what I was doing with it, so I showed him. He was impressed, and said it held his attention the whole time. I gave him a follow up booklet.
Then …

I try to give the gospel (i.e explain what Jesus has done for us and what we need to do about what He has done)  to one person a day.  Today I met Scott in a Rebel Sport outlet store.   He is a cool, goodlooking, free spirited guy with a great open personality.  He is training to be a teacher.  When I walked into the store, he was behind the counter, scratching away at his ‘scratch and win’ card.  I had come to this store to exchange ‘too small’ top for a …

Today is a Saturday.  I awoke quite early, at 5:30 actually, so decided to do my spiritual disciples. One of the things I like to do is walk around a golf course near where I live. In the early morning there are no distractions, and it’s nice to be able to walk, listen to the still small voice of God, think, and pray.
When I got home, I read a chapter of the Bible, which is part of my usual routine.  In both my prayer walking time, and my Bible reading, nothing …

The story below has nothing to do with the photo, but I thought you might want to see what my mum looks like, and how gorgeous she is, and to know she made it to 86 on December 18, 2009.
Ok, now for the story which relates to the title of this blog!
Recently, my computer broke down. Fortunately, there is a small house based company within 100 m of my home, so I went there.  I found out it was run by a lovely young Chinese couple who were educated in computer science …
